Family Management
ChildOnlineSafety uses a family account model. Each family has its own children, devices, policies, alerts, and settings — completely isolated from other families.
Your Family
When you sign up, a family is automatically created with you as the admin. You can:
- Rename the family
- Invite other parents or guardians
- Manage member roles
- Transfer admin ownership
Access family management from Family in the sidebar.
Family Members
A family can have multiple members, each with their own login. This is designed for:
- Co-parents — Both parents can monitor and respond to alerts
- Separated families — Each parent has their own access with appropriate permissions
- Guardians / carers — Grandparents or other trusted adults can be given read-only access
Each member has:
- Their own email and password
- A role (admin, parent, or viewer)
- Independent notification preferences
Multi-Family Support
A single user account can belong to multiple families. For example, a parent in a blended family might be a member of two separate family accounts. Use the family switcher in the sidebar to switch between families.
